M’uru Is Dead; Hello, Kil’Jaeden
It’s a shame many people won’t ever get to see Kil’Jaeden. Visually, it is the most beautiful encounter I’ve ever seen. Props to Blizzard’s art department. They really put their all into this one.

I haven’t read the entirety of the Sunwell Trilogy, because I’m not a fan of Richard A. Knaak’s writing style and plot devices, but I’ll try to summarize as best I can:
(Sources: Warcraft III, the Sunwell Trilogy, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne.)
Arthas lays waste to vast areas of Quel’Thalas in order to get to the Sunwell so he can use its energies to resurrect the necromancer Kel’Thuzad.
An elf of the Kirin Tor named Dar’khan Drathir, looking to come into the Lich King’s good graces, offers his services to Arthas by bringing down the shields of the Sunwell.
Arthas then threw the bones of Kel’Thuzad in the well and corrupted it in doing so.
During the razing of Silvermoon, Anasterian Sunstrider, the king Quel’thalas, and the entirety of his ruling council was killed. This meant Kael’thas Sunstrider, Anasterian’s first son and a member of the Kirin Tor, would assume leadership of Quel’Thalas after the war with Arthas. After his assumption of leadership, he noticed the Sunwell’s corruption was having an extremely adverse affect on his people. So he determined they must destroy it.
Kael’thas led a group of powerful magi from Quel’Thalas and the Kirin Tor, as well as a group of rangers, to the Sunwell. The magi would destroy it and the rangers would defend them against the Scourge while destroying it. In attendance at the destruction of the Sunwell was a wizard named Borel. In actuality, this was Korialstrasz, a red dragon and Alexstrasza’s consort. While the Sunwell had been mostly destroyed, some of its energies remained in a purified state. He gathered what little remaining energy there was and later reformed them in the guise of a human girl named Anveena Teague.
There’s a whole story regarding Kael’thas, his allegiance with the naga and Illidan and his departure to Outland to find new energies, as well as his corruption by those energies, that is relevant to the Sunwell’s story. But I don’t need to detail it in full. All that needs to be known is that Kael’thas eventually sides directly with Kil’Jaeden.
Meanwhile, Anveena Teague was placed into an illusion created by Korialstrasz that had her growing up on the outskirts of Tarren Mill. But the energies of the Sunwell had her living a life of her own. But occasionally her powers would be shown, which drew attention from Dar’khan and others.
When she had grown older, she came across Kalecgos, who was caught in the net of some dragon hunters. She freed him and they fled the dragon hunters. But she returned with Kalecgos to find her home on fire. Dar’khan, now in direct service to the Lich King was responsible. He was looking for the remnants of the energies of the Sunwell. He confronted Kalecgos and Anveena directly about this, but they were saved by Tyrygosa, Kalecgos’ suitor. They were then supposed to find Korialstrasz in Tarren Mill as charged by Malygos, but it’s not known by Tyrygosa, Kalec or Anveena that they are actually looking for a red dragon. They know only that they are looking for “Borel.”
There’s some interlude storyline involving a forsaken trying to raise some undead who captures Anveena from the dragons and tries to use her to raise the undead. This plotlet serves a purpose only so Dar’khan has an opportunity to catch her.
So Dar’khan captures her and takes her to Quel’thalas to the Sunwell’s original location. There, Dar’khan siphons some of her energies for his own so that he could use this power to combat the dragons. However, in siphoning her power, he awakens her true strength and she destroys Dar’khan herself.
Korialstrasz then reveals himself to Anveena and explains what she is. That she is not a human, but the manifestation of the Sunwell’s remaining energies. However, she is very much a person in the sense of emotions and feelings, so Kalec had grown a bond with her and was obviously invested in her protection with the aid of Lor’themar.
After Kael’thas’ defeat in Outland, he returns to Quel’thalas with the Legion seeking to bring Kil’Jaeden into the world. With the Legion having taken the Sunwell Plateau, they capture Anveena and Kalec. Kalecgos is corrupted by Sathrovaar and Anveena is imprisoned (as seen in the screen shot).
You enter Sunwell, and free Kalecgos from Sathrovaar. Before fighting Brut, you see Madrigosa interrogating Brutallus about the whereaboats of Anveena. But Brutallus turns the tables and kills her. Madrigosa’s dead body is then resurrected as an undead wyrm: Felmyst. The Eredar Twins are filler Legion lackies.
M’uru is the naaru from which the blood elves in Silvermoon had been drawing their power before 2.4. After 2.4, the leader of the blood knights is seen in Shattrath speaking with A’dal about M’uru and the mistakes she made regarding this. She repents and A’dal gives her his blessing, despite what they did to M’uru.
From there, if you watch SK Gaming’s Kil’Jaeden video, you can see what happens.
